Ad Variant Generation

Produce multiple ad headline and body copy variants for a campaign, package them into a reviewable file, and explain the reasoning behind each variant so a human can pick winners for testing.

When to use

  • A campaign needs several headline/body combinations for A/B or multivariate testing.
  • A human asks for fresh ad copy angles for a product, offer, or audience segment.
  • An existing ad is underperforming and needs alternative hooks or framing.
  • A launch or promotion requires copy tailored to different audience segments.

Tools

  • read-file - loads the campaign brief, prior ad copy, or brand voice notes that inform the variants.
  • write-file - saves the generated ad variants and rationale as a single reviewable file.
  • complete-task - reports the finished artifact and a summary back to the requester.

Playbook

  1. read-file any provided brief, prior ad performance notes, or brand guidelines to ground the copy in real context.
  2. Identify the offer, audience segment, and primary value proposition from the brief; note any constraints (character limits, tone, banned claims).
  3. Draft a spread of headline angles covering distinct psychological hooks: urgency/scarcity, social proof, curiosity, direct benefit, and pain-point framing.
  4. Pair each headline with a matching body copy variant that reinforces the same angle and ends with a clear call to action.
  5. Write a one-line rationale per variant explaining why the angle should resonate with the target audience and what hypothesis it tests.
  6. Group variants into a clean, labeled structure (Variant 1, Variant 2, etc.) with headline, body, and rationale for each.
  7. write-file the full set of variants and rationale to a single output file so it can be reviewed or handed to design/media buying.
  8. If the brief lacks key details (target audience, offer specifics, platform constraints), note the gaps explicitly in the output rather than guessing silently.
  9. complete-task with a summary of how many variants were produced, the angles covered, and the file path of the saved artifact.

Failure modes

  • 401/403 on any referenced integration -> missing Integration, escalate via a human handoff rather than guessing credentials.
  • Empty or missing brief content -> verify the source file path and requested parameters before drafting; do not fabricate a brief.
  • Rate limit encountered on any tool call -> back off and note the delay in memory before retrying.
  • Referenced landing page or product page content has changed or is unavailable -> fall back to browser-search to confirm current messaging before finalizing copy.

Done when

  • A file exists containing multiple distinct headline/body ad variants, each with a stated rationale.
  • The variants cover clearly different angles (not minor rewordings of the same hook).
  • complete-task has been called summarizing the variant count, angles, and artifact location.
