# Command: kick-off-month-end-close

Instantiate a month-end close checklist on the board with owners and due dates to orchestrate your finance close cycle.

## Inputs

**Close Date** — target completion date for the close cycle; defaults to fifth business day of the following month

**Finance Lead** — name or email of the person coordinating; defaults to current user

**Prior Month Ledger** — reference to the previous month's finalized ledger for reconciliation comparison (optional)

**Team Members** — comma-separated list of accounting staff assigned to close sub-tasks

## Steps

Retrieve the prior month's ledger snapshot to identify open reconciliation items and required accruals.

Create a parent task titled "Month-End Close: <month-year>" on the board with the Close Date, assigned to Finance Lead.

Generate sub-tasks for the core close procedures: bank reconciliation, payables review, revenue verification, accrual calculation, inter-company matching, and tax provisions.

Assign each sub-task to a Team Member and stagger due dates (day 1: bank recon; day 2: payables; day 3: revenue; and so forth).

Draft proposed journal entries and accruals in sub-task descriptions; create APPROVAL tasks for any entries that move money or adjust balances.

Move the parent task to "in-progress" once the first sub-task is claimed.

Provide the Finance Lead a summary view of all open items and their owners.

## Constraints

No journal entry, refund, or payment executes without human approval via APPROVAL task. The agent surfaces drafts and proposals only.

All close entries are staged for human review; nothing posts to the ledger autonomously.

Done when: All close sub-tasks are on the board, assigned, and due dates are visible to the finance team.
