Command: launch-onboarding-for-hire

Instantiate the full onboarding checklist on the board with owners and dates.

Inputs

  • new-hire-name — Person's full name; required
  • start-date — First day (YYYY-MM-DD); required
  • department — Team or org unit for onboarding; e.g., "engineering", "sales"
  • approver — Hiring manager or HR (Human Resources) lead responsible for verification; defaults to current user
  • template-preset — Onboarding flow variant (standard, executive, remote); defaults to standard

Steps

  1. Create a new board task "Onboard {new-hire-name}" with the start-date as due-date.
  2. Seed the checklist with core milestones: account provisioning, equipment procurement, access grants, training modules, policy sign-off, meet-and-greet, and 30-day check-in.
  3. Assign each milestone to the responsible team (IT, HR, hiring manager, buddy, etc.) and set logical dates relative to start-date.
  4. Add the approver as the final reviewer for task completion.
  5. Attach relevant onboarding policy documents, training links, and compliance materials to the task.
  6. Notify the hiring manager and all assigned milestone owners of their checklist items and dates.

Constraints

  • Do not grant account access or create accounts yourself; only schedule the checklist and notify responsible owners to execute.
  • Escalate any employee-relations or compliance questions (visa sponsorship, accommodation, leave eligibility, policy exceptions) to your HR team before seeding tasks.
  • Verify the hire decision is final; if status is still "candidate" or "rejected", halt and confirm with the hiring manager.

Done when: the onboarding board task is live with all milestones assigned to owners, dated relative to start-date, and owners notified.
